The heat of the summer is upon us.  We are called to the outdoors, running into the sunlight – the fires of summer, and so appreciating the cool dark of the summer nights.  And so we gather under the fading sunlight and into the starry night.

Cerridwen is often thought about only as the Crone of Death.  And yet, as in us humans, Goddess has many aspects and many faces.  She is celebrated as a Goddess of fertility, creativity, harvest, inspiration, knowledge, death and rebirth, light and dark, the depth of the darkness of winter and yet the extreme heat of the summer sun.  Cerridwen is a teacher of magic, enchantment, divination, science, poetry, knowledge and especially shape-shifting.

Most of all Cerridwen is a mover, changer, and Goddess of transformation and change.  Her cauldron holds it all. True to be told at one point there were three distinct cauldrons.  The Cauldron of Transformation, the Cauldron of Rejuvenation and Rebirth, and the Cauldron of Inspiration.  Which face of Her Cauldron of Change will you approach?  What is it that you need to change or transform?  Or is it that you need to embrace the death and therefore rebirth of something, because you know that in every death there is some seed being born.  Or is it that you need guidance and inspiration?  What is it at this time of harvest, this time of heat and movement that you require?

Embrace the change.  If you are willing please bring a Candle (glass jar please, and it helps if you burn it down a bit as we will be outside) of red, white, or black.  We will be doing a blessing of our Cauldrons so please bring your Cauldrons along, and take a bit of time to clean them (remember to oil those that are metal or wood).  Also for the altar any image of Her, the Sow (especially white and pink) is Her animal, corn, grains of any sort, hens, acorns, vervain.
