New Moon News
June 3rd, 2008 ~ New Moon in Gemini

Komo mai kau mapuna hoe “Dip your paddle in. Join in the effort.”

Aloha Sisters!

The New Moon in Gemini concerns issues of communication and opening up. Now is time to open our minds even further, allowing new thoughts in, shifting the consciousness of our Self and our world.

Gemini is represented by the Cosmic Twins— they appear identical, yet encompass all ranges of experience.  What can you learn from others at this time? What have you been keeping to yourself that needs to be shared with others?  It is time to take another look at any long-standing miscommunicationsor conflict.  Let’s question those things that no longer serve us, and accept the gift of transformation and healing.  Let’s talk about it!

This is a time of great flexibility and adaptation.  Use it for your greater good, and allow old patterns to be swept up by the Winds of Change!

Daughters of the Goddess Announcement List

Please note that we have finished the process of transitioning from our old method of sending our ritual announcements, newsletters and other important Daughters of the Goddess information to an announcement-only Yahoogroup list.  You may have been added to this list manually by us, or received an invitation to join.  If you received an invitation, please take a moment to help us by following the directions to complete the registration process.  If you no longer wish to be on our mailing list, please email Patrice@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com. We will now be sending all of our ritual and other announcements solely from this announcement-only Yahoogroup.

Leilani’s Upcoming Events

The Mirror in the Water: Reflecting the Beauty of a Liquid Life
Esalen Art Festival. June 29-July 6
Facilitated by Luisah Teish and Leilani Birely

This workshop celebrates the beauty and sensuality of water and our relationship to this most powerful element.

Through the movements of the sacred Hawaiian Hula, participants will become liquid bodies reflecting the waves of the Ocean.

Through storytelling, they will meet the wondrous creatures that inhabit the rivers, lakes, and waterfalls and will learn the chants that call them up from the deep.

Then the participants will be given guidelines and instructions for rendering the meanings of these ancient African and Hawaiian tales into their own original writings. Exercises in sensory and emotional awareness, voice and movement, and the elements of ritual will enable the participants to deliver their stories in the call and response style of village story theater.

The participants will work in small groups to create body adornments, costumes, and props using driftwood, stones, shells, seaweed, and other gifts from Nature.

This workshop culminates in a ritual incorporating the participants’ original works and is performed for the community.

No prior dance, theater, or crafts experience required. Wear comfortable clothing; bring a hand mirror and your favorite creative tools and small instruments.

This is an invitation to create and embody the sacred arts and to share the magic.  For more information please contact Leilani@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com or see www.esalen.org.

Please join Daughters of the Goddess at our Bast Creativity Hua! Have you ever wanted to create a special piece of jewelry?  Here's your chance! We will be working with Precious Metal Clay (PMC) to create our own wearable pieces of art. This clay is made of a combination of silver particles and cellulose. The clay is hand worked and then kiln fired. The binder burns off in the kiln and you are left with a piece of Fine Silver (.999%). It is then dipped in patina and polished to reveal its beautiful shine.

We are planning a 1-day workshop for $50 to create your piece. We will fire and polish for you. If the polishing is something you feel you would like to learn, an additional drop-in class will be offered the following day.

For more information Please contact Anne@DaughtersoftheGoddess.com or call Anne at 510-332-5396 or Sabrina at 510-434-9965

Payment of in full $50 for this workshop is due June 1, 2008.
